American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS has entered into a partnership with the Center for International Programs (CIP) under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan to assist in the administration of the Presidential Scholarship Program, “Bolashak” (“Future”). CIP was created to administer the 3,000+ annual student scholarship program announced by the President of Kazakhstan in March 2005. American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS is an international not-for-profit organization working to advance education, research, and mutual understanding across the United States and the nations of Eastern Europe, Eurasia, and Southeast Europe. Its mission is to foster democratic development and civil societies by advancing education and research, cultivating leadership, and empowering individuals and institutions through learning. With a staff of over 450 professionals, American Councils designs, implements, and supports innovative programs in education, community outreach, and scholarly research.
American Councils’ administration of this program includes sponsorship of current Bolashak scholars in the U.S., the placement of future Bolashak scholars in English language and degree programs beginning Fall/Winter 2006 semester, as well as recruitment of leading U.S. universities and colleges who wish to host future Bolashak recipients from Kazakhstan. We are pleased to be able to assist the government of Kazakhstan in this initiative and look forward to working with the recipients and host universities over the next few years.
